Review: The DUFF by Kody Keplinger
About the book:
The DUFF by Kody Keplinger
Published by:
Genre: Contemporary, romance-ish
Pages: 280 pages
Synopsis: Bianca has family problems, and to over-top, Wesley Rush, hot douche-bag of the school named her the DUFF (Designated Ugly Fat Friend) Yeah. Ouch. But as her family problems overwhelme her, she turns to Wesley, and they have a nemesis-with-benefit kind of relation going on.
My thoughts: Bianca is such a sarcastic character, I loved her and how she handled the DUFF thing. I loved the fact that it wasn't just love-base, but family and friends too. We didn't just read about Wesley and Bianca, but also about Bianca's mom and dad. I think that was fun. But some points in the book threw me off. I can't say as it may be spoilers. Sorry about that.
My rating: 3.75/ 5 stars
Sad parts: No
Funny part:Yes
Action: Nope
Who should read that book: If you like really funny and sarcastic protagonist, go on and jump into the adventure.
About the author:
Kody Keplinger is a college student (no wonder why The DUFF sounds so teenag-y, sounds bad, but it's actually a good things when it's done well). Barely in her twenties, she's an accomplished author, the co-founder of Disability in KidLit and a teacher at the Gotham Writers Workshops in New York. Try to beat that, because I sure can't.
